Overview:
Join us for an unforgettable week of exploration and scientific discovery at Acadia National Park! Based at the beautiful Schoodic Institute, you’ll get hands-on with exciting research projects—like identifying, catching, and surveying the invasive green crabs. 

🌟 Highlights of the Week:
Tidepools and Marine Life

• Intertidal Zone: Dive into the fascinating world of intertidal ecosystems, where starfish, sea urchins, and anemones adapt to the ebb and flow of the tides.
• Marine Biodiversity: Explore the rich variety of marine life in Acadia’s tidepools and coastal waters, from mollusks to crustaceans.

Ecology and Biodiversity

• Coastal Forests: Explore Acadia’s diverse plant life, from the coastal spruce-fir forests to alpine ecosystems, and learn how species adapt to their unique environments.
• Freshwater Ecosystems: Dive into Acadia’s lakes and ponds, critical habitats for amphibians, fish, and waterfowl, and learn how they contribute to the park’s biodiversity.

Cultural History​

• Creation of Acadia National Park: Uncover the park’s history and the efforts of conservationists like George B. Dorr, who helped preserve this natural wonder.

Climate Change and Environmental Conservation​

• Conservation Efforts: Explore ongoing efforts to protect native species and restore damaged habitats, learning how you can be a part of the solution.

Accommodations:

• Campers will stay in cozy two-bedroom apartments, surrounded by Acadia’s stunning landscapes, and be mesmerized by the park’s dark skies, with a chance to even spot climbing porcupines!

• The program fee will cover food, accommodations, program fees, supplies, and equipment for all activities.

Beginning & End

• Registration is 2-4:00 pm on Day 1
• Checkout by 10:00 am on Day 5

Important dates:

• January 31, 2025: Application deadline
• February 5, 2025: Camp acceptance/rejection notifications sent
• February 15, 2025: $100 nonrefundable deposit deadline
• May 1, 2025: FULL STEAM in the PARK payment deadline
• May 15, 2025: Full payment is no longer refundable
