Overview:
Pack your water shoes and curiosity—this family camp is an adventure for every generation! Families will live and learn together at the Chincoteague Bay Field Station, where salt marshes, coastal waters, and changing tides become the classroom. Each day brings new opportunities to explore, investigate, and make memories together.

​Highlights of the Week:

• Fishing Together: Cast a line, explore local fish species, and learn how healthy waterways support coastal life.
• Crabbing Adventures: Try your hand at catching blue crabs while discovering their fascinating behaviors and role in the bay ecosystem.
• Plankton Investigations: Collect water samples and use scientific tools to uncover the tiny organisms that help sustain life in the bay.
• Seining the Shoreline: Work together to pull a seine net through shallow water and examine the fish, shrimp, and other creatures living beneath the surface.
• Kayaking the Bay: Paddle through calm coastal waters while exploring marsh habitats, observing wildlife, and experiencing the bay from a new perspective.
• Live and Learn Together: Share meals, discoveries, laughter, and meaningful family time at the Chincoteague Bay Field Station.

Accommodations:

• Chincoteague Bay Field Station in dormitory style rooms with shared bathrooms
• ​Families will room together

​Costs:

• $750 for each adult camper. $595 for each child 11 and under.
• ​​The program fee will cover food, accommodations, supplies, and equipment for all activities.
• Note: For Assateague Island Family Camp, children must have completed Kindergarten to attend.

​​Travel:

• Travel to and from camp is the sole responsibility of each camper.
• Nearest Airports:

Beginning & End

• Registration is 2-4:00 pm on Day 1
• Checkout by 10:00 am on Day 5

Important dates:

• January 31, 2027: Application deadline
• February 5, 2027: Camp acceptance/rejection notifications sent
• February 15, 2027: $100 nonrefundable deposit deadline
• May 1, 2027: FULL STEAM in the PARK payment deadline
• May 15, 2027: Full payment is no longer refundable
