Countdown to Grand Teton

Camp cost: $950 per camper


Overview:​
Join us for an unforgettable week of exploration and discovery at Grand Teton National Park! Picture waking up to moose grazing outside your door and ending the day with eagles soaring overhead. This is your chance to immerse yourself in the beauty and ecology of this spectacular region!

🌟 Highlights of the Week:

Ecology and Biodiversity
  • Mountain and Valley Ecosystems: Discover the wide range of ecosystems in the park, from alpine meadows to sagebrush flats, and the plant and animal species that call each home.
  • Wildlife Habitats: Get to know the park’s famous wildlife, including elk, moose, bison, black bears, grizzly bears, and pronghorn, and learn how they fit into the larger ecosystem.
  • Wetlands and Riparian Zones: Explore the vital role that wetlands and rivers play in supporting beavers, otters, and a diverse array of bird species.
Conservation and Wildlife Management​
  • Wildlife Corridors: Learn how wildlife corridors help maintain healthy populations of large mammals by ensuring safe migration routes.
  • Human Impact and Stewardship: Understand the park’s ongoing efforts to minimize human impact on the wildlife and habitats, and how sustainable tourism is being promoted.​
Cultural History
  • Native American History: Learn about the Shoshone, Bannock, and other Indigenous peoples who have lived in the Tetons for thousands of years, and their deep connection to the land.
  • Early Explorers and Fur Trappers: Explore the adventures of early fur trappers like John Colter, who were among the first European Americans to explore the region.​
Accommodations:
  • Nestled in the stunning landscape of the Tetons, educators will be based at the Teton Science School, where cozy cabins and lodges await. (These are bunk beds with shared bathrooms.)

Costs:
  • $950 per camper
  • The program fee will cover food, accommodations, program fees, supplies, and equipment for all activities.

  • Travel to and from camp is the sole responsibility of each camper.

Beginning & End
  • Registration is 2-4:00 pm on Day 1
  • Checkout by 10:00 am on Day 5

Important dates:
  • January 31, 2025: Application deadline
  • February 5, 2025: Camp acceptance/rejection notifications sent
  • February 15, 2025: $100 nonrefundable deposit deadline
  • May 1, 2025: FULL STEAM in the PARK payment deadline
  • May 15, 2025: Full payment is no longer refundable
