Camp #11 at Voyageurs National Park is complete! One more adventure to go. Camp #12 is loading… Sitka, Alaska, here we come!

We flew out of Chicago on May 30th, and somehow today is Day 77 of this crazy, beautiful summer on the road. By the time we roll back home on August 23rd, we will have been gone 86 days.

There have been thousands of miles, national parks, educators who have become friends, tents going up and coming down, early mornings, late nights, laughter, learning, wildlife, campfires, boats, mountains, oceans, and more memories than I know how to put into words. I won't pretend our tanks aren't getting a little low because they absolutely are, but there is still enough in there for one more adventure.

So we are going to dig deep, soak up every single minute, and finish strong with Camp #12 — Sitka, Alaska! One more STEAM in the PARK. One more group of incredible educators. One more national park. One more chance to be where our feet are. Alaska, we are coming for you!
During each of our adventures, our campers have worked together to create a shared document with lesson ideas and immersions specific to the park they visited.

Season 6 of STEAM in the PARK — 2026
STEAM in the PARK is a 5-day, 4-night immersive experience designed for educators who are passionate about nature and education. Held in breathtaking national park locations, this program offers a unique opportunity to connect with like-minded peers, rekindle your fire for teaching, and gather invaluable resources to bring back to your students, schools, and communities. It's a time to live, learn, and grow among educators who share your love for the outdoors and a desire to make a lasting impact. Educators, park rangers, informal educators, and college students with an interest in education and environment are welcome to apply. 

Our mission is clear: to inspire and support educators, helping them return to their classrooms recharged and ready to make an even bigger difference in their students' lives. STEAM in the PARK is more than learning—it’s about building a community that lifts each other up and shares the passion for education, nature, and impact. STEAM is the intentional integration of ideas, discipline, people, and experiences to create learning that inspires student, encourages, educators, and reminds us that the world' greatest lessons happen when everything is connected. ​
As we step into Season 6, it’s incredible to reflect on the path that’s brought us here. Since launching our very first camp in Acadia National Park in 2021, STEAM in the PARK has grown into a movement rooted in curiosity, community, and the power of place-based learning.

Over the past five years, we’ve hosted 46 camps across 31 national park sites, welcoming more than 1,300 educators and park rangers into this work. Their passion has stretched far beyond the campfire—bringing nature-based learning to more than 125,000 students nationwide. Every lesson taught, every story shared, every spark rekindled continues to ripple across classrooms, districts, and communities.

In Season 6, we’re excited to return to beloved park sites and introduce new ones to the adventure. Each camp continues our mission to help educators rekindle their fire, find their people, and immerse themselves in the beauty and inspiration of the places we protect.

This year’s theme, Designing with Nature: Voices of the Wild, invites us to listen more closely—to the patterns, stories, and wisdom woven throughout every ecosystem we step into. Together, we’ll explore how nature designs, adapts, and teaches… and how we can carry those lessons back to our classrooms and communities.
